I have loved singing and music as long as I can remember. I started taking lessons to relax after work while working in Shanghai, China. Through my teachers the jazz bug in Shanghai soon got to me and they introduced me to the thriving Shanghai jazz scene where I started performing professionally with various jazz ensembles.
After moving to Europe, I studied Jazz and Contemporary Music at the Freies Musikzentrum’s Jazz Projekt in Munich, Germany. I sang with jazz ensembles at the famous Unterfahrt Jazzclub and sang at various venues with my regular band Jazz Preferred in Munich and surroundings.
After a few years, I moved to Zurich, Switzerland and sang Brazilian and Cuban songs in Latin trio Muladillo and jazz with the Red Velvet band. Just recently, I moved back to my home country The Netherlands and am working from the southern city of Breda. When I sing a song, I like to tell stories through my singing, giving each song a personal touch.
Sharing my love for music and singing not just through my songs, I also teach voice according to the method of the Institute of Vocal Advancement (IVA). The IVA emphasises a natural way of singing, free of pressure and free from too much strain on the vocal chords. I teach voice to singers of all levels and ages in The Netherlands and internationally.
